adidas logoDepending on what style of martial arts you are into, Adidas may not be the first brand of shoes you think of when looking for karate shoes. Sure, they’re well known for their soccer shoes and their sneakers, but karate shoes?!

Actually, Adidas is one of the most popular shoes for martial artists around the world. They are endorsed by three time world champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Clark Gracie. They also have an entire line of products for Taekwondo practitioners including sparring gear, pads and safety equipment. Their gear is approved for competition by the World Taekwondo Federation.

However, don’t just think that Adidas karate shoes are only for people taking Taekwondo. They’re made for any style of martial arts with the same care and quality you would expect from a global brand like Adidas. In fact, I’ve been wearing the Adidas SM II karate shoes for my personal martial arts training, which happens to be Kung Fu, and I couldn’t be happier.

We highly recommend Adidas karate shoes because:

  • They offer a selection of high quality shoes to fit within most budgets.
  • They’ve been used for many years by thousands of martial artists.
  • Adidas has a long, proven record of delivering great products.

The Best Adidas Karate Shoes

There are a few choices available from Adidas when it comes to martial arts shoes. Below are what we consider the best karate shoes that Adidas offers. Any of them would be a great choice for any martial art that allows shoes, including Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Jiu Jitsu, and any of the various styles of karate.

‘We are laser-focused on our mission: we strive to be the best sports company in the world, with brands built on a passion for sports and a sporting lifestyle!’ – Adidas Group CEO, Herbert Hainer

What’s Great About Adidas Martial Arts Shoes?

  • They’re a known brand with high quality products and great customer support backing them up.
  • Their mission is to support sports, including martial arts – this is what they do.
  • They have a stylish design that’s also very functional. The pocket for tucking in the laces is a great feature for martial artists.
  • All of the Adidas martial arts shoes are very comfortable. They are light weight, fit well and have a great “feel” to them, almost as if you weren’t wearing shoes.
  • They’ll last a long time. I’ve worn Adidas shoes for Kung Fu for over a year, on a regular basis, and they still look and feel great.

What could be better?

  • If you’re looking for the lowest price you won’t find it here. Adidas makes premium products for martial arts and charges accordingly.
  • Although the shoes are very comfortable, they don’t offer much support. This is a good thing for most people, but if you’re thinking they’ll feel like typical athletic shoes you’ll be disappointed.

About Adidas

Adidas was started in 1949 by a German man named Adolf “Adi” Dassler and within a few years was a well-known brand throughout the country. Popular sports teams soon began wearing Adidas shoes and the more they won, the more popular the brand became. The company stayed in the Dassler family until 1989, which began a fairly turbulent time for the company. It changed hands several times over the next few years, growing all the while. By the late 90’s, Adidas had become a sporting gear powerhouse. They acquired another well-known brand, Reebok, in 2006, making them the largest athletic shoe maker in the world after Nike.

Today Adidas is as much a fashion statement as they are a sporting goods supplier. Their brands are worn all over the world by amateur and professional athletes and sports teams alike. Their martial arts equipment can even be seen in the Olympics during a variety of events, most notably Taekwondo.
